In Vikunja: avatar menu (top right) → Settings → API Tokens → Create a token. Tick all read scopes plus tasks: write (write is needed for the checkboxes and drag-and-drop). Copy it and paste below. Stored only in this browser, and unlike a login session it does not expire.
